Wairarapa engagement photography: Silvia and Jack, Tararua Forest Park

Silvia and Jack are absolutely the cutest couple! I was greeted by a warm handshake from Silvia and a massive grin from Jack who exclaimed "I know you from the veggie markets!". I buy fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables from Jack at the Featherston markets every weekend.

In addition to switching seamlessly between Chinese and English with his market stall colleagues, Jack translates video games into English and dedicates his time working for Fab Feathy at the Featherston Community Centre. Silvia is a bubbly teachers' aide who loves travelling and fully experiencing different cultures. Originally from Mexico, she and Jack met in China. Jack honoured this special place to their relationship by wearing his Shanghai Bashers Cricket Club blazer for their engagement photo shoot. The Bashers are a "beer club with a cricket problem".

We explored the Tauherenikau River, starting at Bucks Road Campsite. This is the closest experience of Tararua Forest Park to Wellington, just over the Remutaka hill in the wonderful Wairarapa.

Silvia and Jack were an amazing couple to photograph. They say they've never had professional photographs taken before! Every time we stopped walking, they posed themselves to utter perfection, they needed to be encouraged to keep moving and be natural! They have so much love in their eyes.

Jack proposed to Silvia amongst the Redwood grove at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, Mount Bruce. The unique blue engagement ring the perfect choice as she doesn't like diamonds (hear, hear!).

They are planning an intimate wedding on a local family property, followed by a fiesta later this year in Mexico. We were all humming their first dance song by Los Ángeles Azules walking back from the river, dreaming of mariachi bands and food platters!
