“I can’t stop looking at them... these are even more beautiful memories than I remember! Thank you so much for capturing my little world.” And two days later: “Beautiful Nana passed on this morning. My Dad just said those photos are so special and he appreciates the way you captured her, she looked herself and peaceful.”. -Courtney, September 2022

Life is a collection of fleeting moments, and as we approach the end of our journey, these moments become even more valuable. I understand the significance of preserving memories during this tender time. That's why I offer end-of-life documentary photography sessions for families in Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough. I will also travel New Zealand wide and to Australia if needed.

What are end-of-life photo sessions?

End-of-life photography sessions document precious time spent together and celebrate life

The aim is to document precious time spent together whilst it is still here.

From a heartfelt family gathering at home, to a peaceful walk in the park, or even a bittersweet hospital visit, I document natural moments between family members.

I work closely with individuals, whānau, and medical professionals to ensure the experience is personal, respectful and comfortable. I embrace a holistic approach that goes beyond photography, aiming to create a relaxed atmosphere to allow natural moments between family members to unfold.

Why choose an end-of-life session for yourself or family member?

It is really important to have those last family photos together. To remember the good times, the present and life. These photos will be a lasting legacy for your family.

Who are they for?

Photo sessions are designed for adults or children who have received a terminal diagnosis or are advancing in age and approaching the natural end of their life.

When to have an end-of-life photo session?

The timing of an end-of-life session is entirely based on you or the family's desires. It could be upon receiving a terminal diagnosis, before or during the transition to a retirement home or care facility, or during any significant moment that holds personal meaning.

How long is a day in the life session?

I offer two different sessions:

1 hour

Designed to get a taste for documentary family photography. I can capture a small snippet of your daily life.

4 hours

A half day spent together. More time allows everyone to get into the groove of having me around. This results in super authentic photos and a true document of you as a family.

Preserve memories

By choosing an end-of-life session, you can create timeless photos that will serve as a treasured memento for years to come. The photographs will depict real moments of tenderness and love, providing a source of comfort and solace during difficult times. Reflecting on these captured memories allows you to cherish the time you have together.

Personal experience

I bring personal experience and heart to my end-of-life sessions, having lost my dad as a child. Whilst my mum and I have photos, he was always the photographer. There are very few photos with the whole family present. One I do have is of all of us posed looking at the camera. It doesn't show the smiles, fun or love I remember my dad for. I would like to provide those for your family.
