Wairarapa engagement photography: exploring the river with Nat and Josh

"Thank you for photographing our engagement shoot, we had such a fun and wonderful time and personally it's an evening I won't ever forget.

Natalie and I absolutely love the photos, as always I feel like I look goofy, Natalie looking beautiful as usual we still are struggling to decide our favourite photo, but will let you know when we have come to a decision."

-Josh and Nat, Featherston, February 2019

Nat and Josh spent much time at the creek at the end of the road in Featherston, Wairarapa, during the early stages of their relationship. They sat and talked, walked up and down the river in various stages of flow, and picked blackberries. It was here, the foundations of long lasting love were built.

To celebrate their engagement, Nat and Josh donned rock shoes (and waterproof, knee high neoprene gum boots on my part = slight overkill!) and explored the river once again. I absolutely encourage my couples to suggest locations for their engagement session that have significance to them and meaning to their relationship.

Nat is a dedicated teacher's aide at one of the local Featherston primary schools, a creative writer and dramatist. Josh is an energetic civil engineer in training who works "over the hill". He has impeccable manners and assisted both Nat and I safely over the at times slippery river bed.

Theirs was a beautiful Wairarapa engagement photo shoot, full of almost child-like wonder and sense of discovery. Josh's cheeky humour shone through and Nat glowed throughout with happiness. Nat and Josh collected interesting rocks to keep: one was appropriately shaped like a love heart, one was a brilliant green. They took great delight in picking and eating blackberries, reminiscing of adventures past.

We then headed down the road to Dorset Square for a wander amongst the native trees. As coincidence would have it, Nat found a blue painted rock hidden in a tree stump. It matches her unique blue sapphire engagement ring. She returned it to it's hiding place for another person to enjoy.

I'm super looking forward to photographing these guy's wedding at the gorgeous Brakenridge Country Retreat and Spa Wairarapa wedding venue later this year.
