Winter Wairarapa wedding venue Rose & Smith at Tauherenikau: food wine and country hospitality

If you're after amazing Wairarapa food, wine and country hospitality for your wedding venue, congratulations! You've found Rose & Smith at Tauherenikau.
Rose & Smith at Tauherenikau is an elegantly converted stables building, set in the leafy grounds of the historic Tauherenikau racecourse.
Rose & Smith at Tauherenikau is a lovely year-round wedding venue, especially during winter. As an added incentive, there are generous venue hire discounts for low season and mid-week. Just imagine having the whole Wairarapa to share with your friends and family, during a winter weekend, then being married on a quiet Monday for example.
The venue offers the very best in local produce cooked by head chef Dale, often on coals and wood fired ovens outside. Think grilled octopus with wasbi mash, Palliser Ridge spit roasted lamb and woodfired apple galette with salted caramel mascarpone. Shared platters are passed around, up and down the long tables.
Wairarapa local wines, beers and spirits are championed such as Matahiwi Estate and Lighthouse Gin (inspired by Cape Palliser lighthouse!).
These photos were taken at the Wellington on a Plate 2019 event A Hop, Skip and Jump. Even though it was rainy and cold outside, the warmth and brightness that was felt inside was delightful.
Everyone enjoyed the country hospitality, enjoying quality time with friends and making new ones. Many people had come from Wellington, an easy one hour's bus ride away.
The venue is managed by experienced event & wedding planner Paula, whose attention to detail is just stunning. The luxurious stationary was created by Bhaktiniranjanmistry and the flowers by Horrobin and Hodge.
