Wairarapa family photographer: Castlepoint winter portraits

Charlotte and her family's special place is Castlepoint.
It was an honour to photograph the whole extended family there during winter. I'm delighted to share their photos with you.
Charlotte and her husband Aaron were married at Castlepoint, a popular beach in the peaceful Wairarapa. Her parents have a home overlooking the bay too. Many family memories have been created here, so it was a natural choice for their outdoor family portrait session. Their young boys enjoyed quality time with their older cousins visiting from Germany.
This was such a special time shared, bonds deepening during a wintry adventure on the beach with the dogs.
I documented the three generations of family walking along the beach. The dogs enjoyed off leash freedom, even posing for a portrait with grandad. He told me about his constant companion and how his family came to New Zealand through the bay entrance behind us.
Everyone hiked up to the lighthouse, chatting away, enjoying each other's company.
At the lookout everyone pointed out grandma and grandpa's house on the map and hillside.
Back on the beach, we visited Mali's Rock. Mali, visiting from Germany, always used to play on the rock as a young girl. Now, it's much further into the bay and it seemed much smaller! All the children took turns standing on the rock, plucking up the courage to jump off when the surrounding water was at it's lowest.
Afterwards I was invited for tea and cake at the house on the hill. I'm so grateful to photograph such warm and friendly families. Thanks so much for having me, I hope you enjoy your artwork for many generations to come.
